This year will be some of the critical years for manufacturers as they go about launching products that are designed to hook in the entry level and first time buyers of DSLR systems.
The North American Consumer Digital Camera Forecast states that although DSLRs offer many features and are feature-packed, manufacturers continue to strive to incorporate the simplicity of the best compact cameras. The automated features that are common in compact cameras, such as face detection and redeye removal, are making their way into DSLRs, in particular as Live View becomes standard. This could very well also be the year in that video capture becomes standard in cameras with interchangeable lenses.'
To show the importance of this market, in 2007 the DSLR market grew by 40%. Compare that to compact sales which only increased 24%.
