DSLR Cameras compared

DSLR Camera compared to a standard digital camera, which is also known as point and shoot.

Incredible Image Quality - A DSLR camera produces an exponentially better picture image when compared to a standard digital camera. A main reason for this is that a standard digital camera has a small image sensor in comparison to a DSLR camera, and a small image sensor does not produce a high quality picture.

High Speed - Standard digital cameras, or point and shoot digital cameras, are notorious for their slowness, particularly their shutter lag, which is the time between pressing the shutter and when the image is taken. This is being improved in a standard camera, but compared to the best DSLR cameras, in which the speed is instant when it comes to shutter lag, start up and focusing time, a DSLR is vastly superior. So with a DSLR camera, you will never miss a shot while you are waiting for your camera to start up or snap a picture.

Weight and Size -The ability to be able to slip a camera in a pocket is a convenient thing. These days point and shoot cameras are fairly slim and light, maybe even to the point of not knowing you have one with you. When you compare this to a DSLR camera, DSLR cameras tend to be bigger and bulkier, so you must plan accordingly for their travel.

LCD Reliance- Many point and shoot cameras rely completely upon their LCD for framing. While some users may enjoy this, others much prefer a viewfinder. Some point and shoot cameras do have view finders but they are generally small and borderline useless. And some models do not even have a viewfinder at all, which is an increasing trend.

Lighting - Digital SLR cameras take much better pictures under low light conditions. When you compare a standard camera to a DSLR, any pictures taking in lower light (even when using a flash) a DSLR will always have a higher quality picture.
