Canon has recently applied for a fuel cell patent for its Digital SLR cameras. This technology may also be used in other portable devices as well.

The fuel cells would power the DSLR cameras very cheaply, and provide “green” power. The cells have different voltage outputs which, when compared, can be matched depending upon the exact requirements of the camera device, thereby creating the best voltage for a DSLR. While no details were given about their form of the fuel cell quite yet. however, when you compare the Canon patent to the others, in particular by MTI Micro, we have a good idea of how it may work.
